Half a Haircut
Bourse
A robot barber shaves exactly half a man’s head, then hits its usage limit. He waits out the two hours on the curb, in the rain.
A sleek automated barbershop, a man in a black cape, a robot arm on the last stroke down the middle of his head. Then the shop floods red and the arm stops dead: usage limit reached, back in two hours. Hard cut to the curb outside, in the rain, still in the cape, one side shaved to the skin and the other long and dripping. Behind him, the sign ticks down from 1:58:12.
Eight seconds of picture, one generation with two cuts written inside it, so the man, the cape and the light hold from the chair to the street. The signs are set in the edit and never name anyone. Then three black cards: some things can be left halfway. For everything else, there’s Bourse.
